Redemption. The definition from Webster's says it is deliverance and atonement for guilt.

This is also my most hated word of these Olympics. The commentators of every sport takes every chance to use this word. "This is Jacobellis's chance for redemption. This is IT. Oops. Too bad." "Bode got his redemption after not medaling at all in the last Olympics." "Shani's chance at redemption to win the gold and he only got the silver in the 1500m." "This is XYZ's chance at redemption." The most overused and wrongly used word in Vancouver. Seriously. Just let it be and leave Bob Marley's song alone.
