It's Official. USA vs. Canada for Gold. Finland vs. Slovakia for Bronze.

Does it get any better than this?? The prediction before these Games was a Russia-Canada fight for the gold medal. And we saw how that ended in the quarterfinals. Last night, Canada's game with Slovakia came very close towards the third period. Going into the third, Canada was leading by 3. Canada did a great job holding Slovakia off. But with a few minutes left, Slovakia got 2 goals past Roberto Luongo. That's when Canada started to freak out and was starting to unravel. Slovakia fought every second that was left in the game. It was too close to call, and a tie seemed to be a likely possibility. But it was just too late for Slovakia.

Tonight's bronze medal game will be between Slovakia and Finland. I'm going with a win by Slovakia. It will probably end with Slovakia leading by at least 2/3 points. Finland looks tired already. After the manhandling USA has done with them, it's not sure if they have much energy left. Also, Finland's track record in this Olympics has been interesting. They've beaten Belarus, Germany and Czech Republic. These teams were "easy" to beat. Except the Czechs. That game was a lucky one for the Finns who scored with less than 10 minutes left in the game in a powerplay. And the Finns has lost to the stronger teams by at least 3 points. Slovakia's losing games were by a difference of 1 goal. But they've beaten Russia and Sweden, the same teams Finland has lost to. Well, in the end it only matters who wins. This game will be tonight at 7p.m. Pacific time.

USA is the unbeaten team. Canada has only been beaten once and by the USA. Its going to be an action-packed game. I can't say who will win (go USA!). USA believes they can win, but smart to not say they will guarantee a gold. They are going in taking nothing for granted. USA knows it will be a fight to the finish. Canada is pumped up, the heavy favorites, who are also not taking anything for granted as they face the ONLY team to beat them, again. They are ready to attack. This game will be on Sunday at 3p.m. Eastern time.
